February 26, 2013 I said goodbye to one of the most gentle, sweet, intelligent, faithful devoted friends I ever had! My beautiful Greyhound Rayne passed away yesterday. We rescued her in 2003 when she was 3, and we had the privilege of having her as part of the family for 10 years. We have many happy memories of taking her to the farm with us and being outside with the horses. Rayne loved to follow us around as we rode, and drove the cart. She was a gentle friend to our house cats, and even when we introduced our little kitten, Rayne was as gentle as a mother hen. We are still stunned that she is gone, she was so full of life up to the very end. I am thankful that she went quickly without much suffering. Up until the morning of her passing, she was very happy and full of life and had no health issues for a dog of her age. She passed away at home with family around her. We will all miss her tremendously! Thank you Rayne for being such a wonderful companion, and true and faithful friend.

March 18, 2013 Lilith, my 13 year old silver brindle greyhound, died on Monday, 11 March. She was born Legs Spiffy to Saucy Sister & Flying Callahan, won 7 races and placed 2nd in three more, hunted rabbits, squirrels & groundhogs, loved chicken, treats, having her ears rubbed, & being tucked in at night. She organized our daily roo, and taught me the harmonies of a three part howl. She was elegant, genteel, and crafty. Always the mystery. And very dear.

July 21, 2013 With great sorrow I have to tell of the passing of our boy Sunny, AKA Misleading Note. Sunny came into our lives in September of 2000, and we had almost 13 years with him before his passing last week. At 15 years young, I guess we knew Sunny wouldn't be around much longer, but it's still hard for us to accept his not being around. As I walk around the house and see things that belong to him, I tear up all over again. Sunny was a real blessing to us and we never regretted bringing him into our home and our lives. A big thank you to Make Peace for rescuing him and matching him up to us, to Marc and Susan Dralus for fostering him and babysitting him so many times over the years, and to all of you who have in one way or another touched our lives.

October 12, 2013 We just lost of dear Cory. She had been suffering with bone cancer of the shoulder for 4 months. Despite radiation and infusions--The cancer ended up in her lungs which made breathing a challenge. She was the most amazing creature. She was smart, strong and a trooper to the end. We had such a hard time thinking about the next steps neither my husband nor I could bring ourselves to have her put to sleep. She as always did it her way. She died at home with our cat nearby in her favorite spot in the house. Our cat rarely left her. He is as upset as we are. What can I say about the most amazing four years we had with her. She always surprised me with her ways. She was a gentle soul whose eyes (the biggest orbs of brown) would just see within a person. When she greeted her friends people and animal she would do a little dance. She smiled like horses smile, showing her teeth but always with a glint in her eyes. She loved running until she could no longer do it. The dog park was her favorite place always trying to find a dog that would run with her. She had her pals at the park and recently she saw two of her pals who were so gentle and sweet to her. There is so much to say but there isn't enough space to say more. I loved her gentleness, quiet attention and soft licks. She really rescued us. I will miss her always. She was a love and a sweet heart. We miss you Cory. 4 years was not enough.

August 9, 2011 It is with much sadness, I inform you of the passing of Mia (Ruffina Blake) earlier today. Mia first came to us a little over 6 years ago. We adopted Mia to help with our other greyhound Rudy who was having some trouble adjusting to being the only dog in the house. We were a little worried, but bringing Mia into the house was just what the doctor ordered for Rudy and the rest of our family. She was a very loving girl, but always let you know when somebody was approaching the house. I would joke that she was the only "Guard Greyhound" in the world. Although Mia's passing was a shock today, at least it was quick (stroke) and hopefully painless. You will be missed.

August 12, 2011 After ten years, our beloved grey Scout went to heaven to search for his buddy Kelly, to run without a leash and not get lost. Now he can race all he wants with all the other greys! We will forever miss him.

September 12, 2011 We are truly sad to inform you that our Mya (It's All Mine) lost her fight with osteosarcoma on August 9, 2011. She kept her love of her walks, her playful way and her appetite right up until the end. She will always be greatly missed and fondly remembered. Our house is not the same without her and I already have had numerous dreams about her that I believe is her letting me know that she is happy, pain free and running free! We love you Mya!!!!
