October 12, 2013 We just lost of dear Cory. She had been suffering with bone cancer of the shoulder for 4 months. Despite radiation and infusions--The cancer ended up in her lungs which made breathing a challenge. She was the most amazing creature. She was smart, strong and a trooper to the end. We had such a hard time thinking about the next steps neither my husband nor I could bring ourselves to have her put to sleep. She as always did it her way. She died at home with our cat nearby in her favorite spot in the house. Our cat rarely left her. He is as upset as we are. What can I say about the most amazing four years we had with her. She always surprised me with her ways. She was a gentle soul whose eyes (the biggest orbs of brown) would just see within a person. When she greeted her friends people and animal she would do a little dance. She smiled like horses smile, showing her teeth but always with a glint in her eyes. She loved running until she could no longer do it. The dog park was her favorite place always trying to find a dog that would run with her. She had her pals at the park and recently she saw two of her pals who were so gentle and sweet to her. There is so much to say but there isn't enough space to say more. I loved her gentleness, quiet attention and soft licks. She really rescued us. I will miss her always. She was a love and a sweet heart. We miss you Cory. 4 years was not enough.
